A September Football Saturday

A football Saturday in Madison is quite exhilarating. From early on, you can feel the tension – the party feel – in the air. It just feels different. It feels like a party everywhere. You go about your tasks and you cannot help but see the people everywhere – all in red.

When the game time is near you can see the flocks of people – streams of people – all in red – going to the game. They flock down University Ave, they pour out of the dorms and flock down Dayton Ave, and people flock down Randall Ave. When I see people pouring out of the dorms like this, I wonder if there is anyone left in the dorms. Football Saturday is so universal. You can just feel the charge in the air!

All the way down University Avenue one sees lines of red, as people flock to the game.

People are celebrating at this little bar on Randall Ave. All nearby bars are jammed with partiers.

People are cutting through here past the engineering building to get to the stadium.

Here people are pouring across Randall Ave.

… and are heading under the classic arch – the entrance to Camp Randall Stadium.

This is a view up Randall Ave towards the new large bio science complexes. Mobs of people are pouring out of buses and everyone is headed to the game.

Streams of red also pour down Dayton Ave.

This guy is scalping.

Partying at nearby houses.

As we get closer to the stadium (actually this is the stadium), we see throngs of people all dressed in red.

This is a nearby bar on Regent St., and people are partying hard.

People are oozing out from almost everywhere to go to the game.

to the game …

This fellow needs tickets (duuuuhhhhh).

The street at the left is Breeze Terrace and it is jammed full of football goers as the stadium starts to fill up.

Another look at Breeze Terrace.

Here is another local bar where people are hanging out.

Bucky “madness” is everywhere.
