Maxwell Street Days was probably at its peak on Saturday July 19. Saturday is the day when most people probably had the time to visit the farmer’s market and then attend the event. I was somewhat surprised by the nice crowd.

Farmer’s market on July 19
The farmer’s market last week was nice as usual. I bought two nice bags of greens and two kinds of kale including Tuscan kale. Baby green stem garlic is in season and this kind of garlic chops easily and is a fabulous and healthy addition to many kinds of fried vegetable dishes. I took some photos and a sampling appears next.
Madison Maxwell Street Days
Madison has been holding it’s Maxwell Street Days celebration this weekend, and today is the last day.
Farmer’s market at the end of June
I began last Saturday’s farmer’s market looking to buy things like onions, kale, and anything else interesting. I often bring my camera and try to capture some of the abundant beauty to be found.
Happy 4th of July
On this upcoming Fourth of July, remember the people who have served to help keep America a free country.
Rich and Steve are interesting people. Their belief in America is for real, and living in a place like Madison, this is refreshingly nice.
Beautiful May skies
The clouds and skies this May have been absolutely beautiful. Here are a few photos.

Second farmer’s market of 2014
I attended one of the first farmer’s market of the season of 2014. This is at a time when the buds are just coming out and people are still wearing coats. The first farmer’s markets are quite early in the season, although I don’t remember the date. Here are a few photos from one of these first farmer’s markets. The photos are not in any particular order.
Farmer’s Market on May 31
Saturday’s farmer’s market was nice as usual. It is festive, the people are nice, and there are excellent photographic opportunities. An incredible choice of amazing foods were on display. Most are fully organically grown and use choice ingredients.
I came late for just the last half hour of the farmer’s market. So the photos are of “what’s left”. The pastries and breads have been in the sun for hours, but they still look amazingly good. The pictures below capture some of the event, some of the people, some of the food and vegetables.
Saturday farmer’s market
Last Saturday’s farmer’s market was in nearly full session and is always a joy to attend. Many incredible foods and other things are both on display and for sale. Further the “fm” is held outside the periphery of the State Capitol, and flowers and protestors are also part of it.
It is the time of season where tulips are the flower of choice.
It was well attended. There was a larger crowd than this picture shows.
