This medallion was hanging from the hood of a car. It was flashing against the light just right.

Mifflin Street Block Party 2010
Here are some pictures of the classic Mifflin Street Block Party for year 2010.
This is take 1. In a day or two I will be adding some discussion to accompany the pictures. But for now you can look at and enjoy the pictures.
A fairly standard chili with cheese
Well I just blogged a chili yesterday and here is another one today. I am quite a bit behind in my blogging and I am still publishing work from months to half a year ago (and more). I am probably never going to get caught up, and maybe don’t even want to.
This chili is fairly standard (at least for me) and uses beans, chopped onions, and slices of American cheese.
The onion itself is an amazingly important ingredient. This is present in nearly every one of my chilies.
Chili with papperjack cheese
I am a chili guy and enjoy making chilies, and also enjoy eating them. The chili below is another of the nearly endless variety of things that you can do with this relatively simple hamburger dish. It’s almost not a chili though. It is more like a fried hamburger dish with melted pepper jack cheese, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, and cream of mushroom soup, and some other things. I also mixed in some chopped greens since it is good for the eyes. This time, I also put in some chopped tomatoes (real tomatoes) instead of canned stuff. It’s more expensive, but the end result is a little better. The results with pictures and some discussion are given below.
Hey Bud – Bud light
The buds in spring are quite nice. It is always a bit of a thrill for me to see the green come out in spring, and to see nature get ready for “another round”. The buds are just coming out, and that is why I call this “bud light”.
This series of photos shows green buds in spring near the capitol and down State Street.
Chili with Hunt’s tomato sauce
This is a chili that I made maybe around a week ago. It is similar to many of my chilis, having onions and kale in it. What is slightly different here is that I am using Hunt’s tomato sauce and Bush’s chili beans.
State Capitol in April
The State Capitol is pretty any time of the year. Here it is early spring and the leaves and buds are not out yet. This is a good time to photograph the Capitol since it is not obscured by trees and leaves.
Walk down State Street in early April
This series of photos was shot around April 1, 2010 and covers the area up and down State Street.
It was an unusually warm day and the temperature was around 80 degrees. Below people are seen in their t-shirts and yet the trees are barren.
Walk down State Street in late March
Towards the end of March in 2010 I went for a stroll down State Street and captured a few images and a few moments. I am a regular “street photographer” (and musician too), and there is a nearly endless variety and interestingness on this street. This is an interesting place to photograph because it is always different every time you walk down the street.
Big Sur art sketch
This is a sketch of the Big Sur coast towards the evening and with a fiery sunset. The Big Sur is a favorite photography topic of mine although I don’t live nearby anymore.
The golden yellow and emerald green planes slope into the sea which is sometimes emerald in color. The slopes are often sandy and rocky, and sea life is often heard squawking in the kelp in the sea. This is a place to “get away from it all”, and is more beautiful than you can easily capture. It is a fantasy land, a place where your imagination can run wild.
