I began last Saturday’s farmer’s market looking to buy things like onions, kale, and anything else interesting. I often bring my camera and try to capture some of the abundant beauty to be found.
Honey is really healthy. Read up on its many benefits. Those little bees are good friends. I have stories to tell about photographing the almond orchards in the California central valley, when bees are swarming around you. I would stick my macro lens an inch or two from bees on flowers, and not only were they not bothered by that nearby large piece of glass, but I was not stung by one, although there were such large swarms that you could hear the “buzz”, and there was no one around, except me and the bees of course. So I happen to like bees, and the honey they produce is incredibly good for you. Nature photographers tend to find out how beautiful the animals really are.
I had to take care of some business. I bought some green stem onions, kale, honey, and I bought an M&M cookie from one of the vendors, and he threw in an extra one. Some of these veggies may show up in some of my future cooking posts. After getting done with the business of buying healthy food, I was fortunate to be able to try to capture some of the beauty of the incredible display of flowers from many vendors. A little sampling is shown below.
There are lots more offerings.
I am not really plugging the farmer’s market. I don’t need to. They have more than a lot of support and following. But I do really like the farmers in Wisconsin!
Here are a few more photos to wrap things up.
Well the farmer’s market is held on the Capitol Square and political views, protests, people carrying signs, and nude bike rides are all to be found. It’s good to be ready with your camera in case one of them happens. Madison, having no nearby defense industry, happens to be staunchly anti-war and anti-defense (but not anti-illegal drugs). I do not necessarily agree or disagree with the views shown below. It’s also part of the farmer’s market.
