State Street and nearby is undergoing some new construction and renovation but it also much remains the same. I discuss some (but not all) of the changes and give pictures.

We had a nice snow in late January. It made the trees pretty. Here are a few photos as it adorned State Street.
The snow we had around the new year was respectable. They are calling this our first snow storm.
Our first snowfall was on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Madison’s classic Orpheum Theater is undergoing a face lift. A private party has decided to renovate the theater to try to bring it to its original look.
The picture below shows workmen removing the marquee for the purpose of restoration. As you can see, the sign is half removed.

State Street is changing. As the hippie era Bob Dylan ranted lyrically: the times, they are a-chang’n. These lyrics were sung in the hippie 60’s era and I think Dylan performed on State St. and probably sang this very song. Well, the times, they are chang’n again.
This post summarizes a few of the new structures going up on or very near State St. and discusses other changes.
We just had our Maxwell Street Days on State St. It was last weekend. I show a few photos. Many kinds of wares were on sale, and generally it was a fun and festive time.
People gathered to buy stuff, to eat, walk the street, relax at a street side bar, and for another year, a nice crowd of people had gathered.
The farmers market in Madison WI is one of the best in the nation. This is the place to shop for fresh Wisconsin grown produce. It is also a great place for flowers.
Madison’s fourth of July “freedom” celebration was held tonight. It was a nice show of fireworks. Here are a few photos.
