Sardines on a Bagel

This is not the best photograph, but it captures the idea. (My flash did not fire.)

This is actually a tasty and healthy meal. This simple dish consists of a can of sardines applied to the top of a bagel. It’s quite simple to make. And it doesn’t cost a lot of money, especially if you buy cheap sardines, like me. Sardines are packaged in a variety of ways, and I prefer the ones that are smoked and are in oil. This is a tasty dish. And it is also healthy.

Sardines are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are an important contributor to good health. They are especially good for the heart and circulation. This is something that everyone must pay attention to. Many kinds of fish, of course, are good as a source of omega-3 acids. However, the smaller fish can be preferred because they do not have the high mercury content that the larger fish that are higher in the food chain, such as tuna, have. So the choice of sardines is healthy and relatively low in mercury, and is my choice for a tasty dish on a bagel.

The bagel is also somewhat healthy, it being a multi-grain bagel.

So this is the ultimate fish and bread dish. I enjoyed the simple meal.

New Society Man

Somebody was donning this book on State Street.

Zero Sum
Zero Sum

And it made me think for once.

This is very old fashioned. We are now members of a kinder and gentler society in which a different kind of economics rules. They did not like the zero-sum man, or society, or economics, and have opted for a solution that, yeah, is kind of different. I am not a sociologist and cannot comment further on this.

Old Madison Photos

I am fascinated with photographic history, especially from the era of the 30’s to 50’s. Theaters, old buildings, architecture, cars, and life in general from this era is very fascinating to me – especially in b/w. Just about any old building in any city in America would be interesting, but here I focus on Madison, WI. Links to a few interesting images are given below.
