Computer Science
I have worked on collecting various sorts of internet computer
resources. These range from GNU resources, languages, web
programming, GUI systems, platforms, etc. There is very, very much
information on the web regarding computers and one almost does not
know where to begin. There are so many references that I cannot
begin to present them here.
In all likelihood you are probably not a Linux person. However a
few links pertaining to Linux and web are given below. Other people
have done a fantastic job of assembling massive resources, and I
point you to them.
-
Greater compilations of links exist but as they say "you can't
beat a database." This
freshmeat site not only refers to
the "freshness" of the meat about to be
consumed by the non-vegitarian
machine, but also contains
many GNU software items. Many of the GNU items have windows
binaries available. Enter any item you are looking for and the
database will report all matching items.
I would list more items, but everything is listed in
the freshmeat database.
-
Another excellent resource for Linux and Unix software that
contains reviews is this site by
Chris Browne. This is a
very, very large compilation of software items, with explanations,
discussion, and reviews of items.
-
I do not list Microsoft resources at this time not because I am
anti-Microsoft but because there is little need to.
2. Web
I list web in its own category.
-
Very much
web information
is available at this
Dev Shed site. Another site is
weberdev.
-
Validation. A big part of creating web pages is
validating them to make sure that they conform to
standards and are otherwise free of errors. Here is a short list of
validation resources on the web.
-
Open validator
is a free tool to do validation.
-
This online
validator is
a standard (if not
the standard) verification tool. This is
probably the best place to verify your
web pages.
