Permalink: Madison Demonstration and Protest on March 6, 2011
This short article presents a series of pictures with some discussion on the topic of the protest/demonstration in Madison Wisconsin on Sunday March 6, 2011. Even though this is an off time a sizeable crowd showed up to present, protest, and demonstrate. A series of photos try to capture this.
Yesterday, Saturday, a larger crowd had gathered on State St. and on the square, but unfortunately I was not able to capture it. Yesterday's Saturday crowd was still less than on the previous two Saturdays, whose attendance rivaled Madison's largest events, such as the "mad" Halloween celebration. On these occasions, the entire length of State Street is filled with people. I am saddened that I did not capture these larger crowds, but the pictures here still try to capture some of the spirit of the protest.
The protest is in its third week. And it is still going strong, even on an off day, as seen in the figure below.
Many people are carrying signs.
State St. is in the background. It is not as busy as on previous Saturdays.
The street around the square was not packed as it had been in the past. Normal traffic was allowed through.
I am presenting the items here as a topic of photography. I do not necessarily agree or disagree with views, opinions, and positions shown or implied by the photography, video, or written material.
These notes apply to photos in general.
