Winter on State Street 2010 - 2

Permalink: Winter on State Street 2010 - 2

Here is another short series of photos on winter on State St. State St. is a favorite photographic topic of mine. It's an interesting place and there is always something unique and different. I am not always "with the grain" though, but I still enjoy photographing this interesting street.

I have not photographed it a lot this winter. I believe this is the second set of photos that I am posting for winter 2010-11. Unfortunately that is not really a lot; hopefully there will be more.

In my last post (recent), I called it a dull, gray, drab, and wet winter day. And that may be what it is. But there are people who like that, and it is not necessarily bad. To many people, possibly including myself, this can be "warm and wonderful" - just like home. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me also, there is a kind of nice gray warmth. I love shots of the state Capitol, and what it symbolizes.

State Street is a very popular photographic topic and although I shoot it, many other people also have the same idea. As I walk around I constantly see people taking snaps of the many interesting things. I recommend "flickr" or Googling for "State Street" images to find over a ba-zillion more photos of this popular topic.

This is looking down State St. towards campus. Bascom Hill is in the background, as identified by the "white patch of snow" above the people's heads.

This is towards the "top" of State St. on the last block. The Capitol, obviously, is in the background.

I find this shot to be nice. This is a nice part of State St. It is just about two blocks from campus.

And looking the other way back up State St.

Some ice

Some balloons brighten things up.
