Content
- This business math blog contains various kinds of business and economics related writing. Content can range from opinions and emotional comments to graphics to calculations. Content can also be in the form of editorials.
- Generally the focus of writing is on some aspect of business or economics. This is not about what stocks to buy and does not give stock advice. The modern thinking of finance meaning "the stock market" is not what is meant here. Economics is a much more general term. For example, there are entries pertaining to house prices, interest rates, gdp, cpi, etc. These are of a general economic nature.
Calculations
- Calculations are often done to support claims. Calculations can be of several kinds. The popular spreadsheet is one excellent form for performing and presenting results. Other more advanced kinds of calculations are sometimes done. An example of this would be a least squares calculation.
- Generally it is the results of calculations or the interpretation of the calculations that is of interest, as opposed to the calculations themselves. Often supporting calculations are omitted and the results are presented.
Other work
- Writings sometimes are part of larger studies or research projects. If an interesting result is found, then it may be reported as an entry.
- A blog entry which might only be a paragraph or two can be the result of a large effort or research project. For example, some of the least squares studies have involved quite a bit of effort even though a single number might be reported.
